Anthony Hamilton...I'm Feelin you!

At the beginning of December 09, I found myself in midst of a little dilemma. It was the end of a decade, and I felt compelled to choose the best albums, songs and artists. The problem with that is, I am really bad at being put on the spot. I tend to decide my 'favorites' on my own terms and in my own time.

Earlier this evening, I realized that Anthony Hamilton, is in my opinion the best R&B artist to come out in the 00s. I came to this conclusion when I dropped Can't Let Go at the end of my DJ set. At this point the lounge was pretty empty, but as soon as I played that track, it was as if the room was brimming with energy. With a BPM (beats per minute) less than 1/3 of the average 'club' record, I have to say there is something to be said about the raw emotion and soul that pours out of that song. Anthony Hamilton has a way of effortlessly creating a sound and an emotion that seems so familiar yet it feels completely new.

Since my first post to the A Girls Guide to DJaying Blog in mid June of last year, I have received over 4 thousand hits, and over 2 thousand new visitors. I know it's 'relative', but those are pretty big numbers as far as I'm concerned....so, thank you for taking an interest in my adventures from within and around the DJ booth. I will be sure to be more diligent with getting more posts in over the up and coming year!

Where have I been?

I think it is safe to say that during the summer, I am out a lot more and don't have much time to update my beloved blog. I'm such a slacker. With that said, let me give you a quick update:
-It was a wonderful night at Tillman's last week with the Igmar Thomas trio. The crowd was small due to that Lakers game(whatever). I hung around after my set to hang out with Igmar and his crew as we reminisced over the early summer stage days, and giant step.

-There have been a good handful of super hot and sexy rooftop parties, please stay tuned for the next one (empire hotel, highbar and hudson terrace).

-Carnival was intense as usual.

oh and I've recently discovered my love of peanut MMs;) They are soo underrated
